Miyu Irino to Voice Sabo in ‘ONE PIECE’ Starting from Episode Airing on the 18th

It was announced on the official X account that Miyu Irino (36) will take over the role of Sabo in the anime One Piece. The character was previously voiced by Toru Furuya (71), who recently announced his departure from the role.

Official X announced in a scene cut from One Piece that ‘Sabo will appear in episode 1116 of the anime One Piece, titled “Let’s Go Get It! Buggy’s Great Declaration,” set to air on Sunday, August 18th at 9:30 a.m.’ The announcement continued, ‘We have chosen Miyu Irino as the new voice actor for Sabo. We hope you will continue to support the One Piece anime.’

The change in Sabo’s voice cast follows the June 23rd announcement that Toru Furuya, who had voiced the character, would be stepping down after admitting to an affair. The official One Piece website stated, ‘Toru Furuya’s agency requested that he step down from the role of Sabo,’ and added, ‘In light of this, we have decided to recast the role and will continue the selection process. We appreciate your continued support for the One Piece anime.’

Miyu Irino is well-known for his roles as Haku in Spirited Away, Todomatsu Matsuno in Mr. Osomatsu, Jinta Yadomi in Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, and Shoya Ishida in A Silent Voice.

One Piece is a long-running and beloved anime series that has captured the hearts of fans worldwide.
